Horseback Riding Birthday Parties

Registration is currently CLOSED

Fees: $325 for 1 – 12 riders, additional riders $50 each, must be approved by Ms. Amy
(Normal riding fees are $50.00 per rider X 12 riders or $600.00; this is to give you a point of reference of normal riding fee’s compared to the discount received for the Birthday Party).

Party Length: 3 hours. Party Guests receive about 1 hour of riding time and about 30 minutes of grooming/ horse time.  Horses will be tacked and ready to go.  See example schedule.
Reserving your Date:
Birthday Parties take place on Saturday afternoons (necessary to have enough volunteers available).  Parties must be booked and pre-paid 30+ days in advance or as soon as you know a day and a time.
You must confirm your final number of riders and party time 5 days before the event.
This is a volunteer based program.  In order to guarantee the best party experience we need to know number of riders so we have the correct number of volunteers and horses ready for your party!  Increasing the number of riders over 12 will increase the cost of your party, see “Fees”, mentioned above.

Location: Indoor arena and outdoor areas of Meadows of Mendon Stables.  Birthday parties take place rain or shine.  We do not offer any off-site riding experiences.

Facilities: There is a heated or air conditioned back room, freezer/refrigerator and a Microwave.  You have access to the party room for as long as you need it during your scheduled time. There are 2 indoor bathrooms available for use.

Adult/child ratio: You may have 2 adult guests attend for every 12 riders. Immediate Family (Grandparents, Aunt, Uncle, etc.) of Birthday Girl/Boy may be permitted as long as they follow directions and stay within appropriate designated visitor seating area. Please see Stable Manners section, mentioned below.

Rider/Helper ratio: Birthday Boy/Girl may ride independently if they are a current student at the Meadows of Mendon Stables, all other riders will be led by a volunteer while on horseback, regardless of stated abilities, unless alternate arrangements made with Ms Amy.

Garbage Policy: Please carry in/out all items, just like a State Park.  Please leave the back room clean, and remove garbage to the garbage can in the parking lot. Please leave the stables as clean as you found it.  I have a cleaning lady that cleans every Thursday to make sure that you have as clean of a room as we can deliver at a stable.

Expected Stable Manners:

  • All stables Guests (adult and child) will be expected to follow the posted stable rules, all verbal instructions by stable staff and volunteers as well as all information in this guide.  This is for the safety of guests, volunteers and our horses.

  • Any issues that arise will be addressed promptly by stable staff, and could be cause for dismissal from the party if not remedied.

  • All guests are expected to follow directions and stay within the appropriate designated clearly marked visitor seating area.

  • Under NO circumstances should guests wander into the riding area of the indoor arena, loiter at the entrance or put themselves or the riders in any danger.

  • This is not an opportunity for photos for parents as they put their child on a horse for the first time.

  • Please keep in mind, we strive to make the birthday party about the child’s birthday, not the adults who want to watch their child riding. (Show Off or Pop-Up riding may be scheduled separately with the instructor.)

  • We try to accommodate requests, but for safety and insurance purposes, we have developed these recommendations based on experience.

  • We are not here to monitor, or direct adults that want to hang out and attend a child’s birthday party. These adults pose a distraction for staff and a danger to themselves.

  • Please see the Meadows of Mendon Stables Rules page for a complete list of guidelines.

  • Please be courteous and respectful.

  • Please contact Ms. Amy with any questions.

Meadows of Mendon Stables Rules

  • No smoking is permitted anywhere on the stables or barn grounds.

  • No foul or inappropriate language is allowed at the stables.

  • Only registered and enrolled riders may attend Birthday Party. Parents, siblings or any other children who are not registered may not attend/watch the program.  Show-off rides, or Pop-up rides can be scheduled by a single appointment, $50.00 per ride, 45 minutes.  They are separate from a Birthday Party.

  • It is distracting and dangerous for the guests to have parents, unsupervised children running around the stables.  It is also against our standard barn policy.  We maximize the space we have to facilitate a great riding program.  Keeping everyone safe is our top priority.

  • Please drive into the stables slowly, we have children and horses all over the property.

  • Pick-up is promptly at event end time. We have other horseback riders coming in to ride after your event, and we need the facilities available for the next group.

  • All guests must wait in the tack/meeting room until an instructor arrives.  Please do not allow them to wander into other lessons occurring in the indoor arena, and they cannot wander into animals stalls.  All groups must wait for an instructor in the tack/meeting room.

  • Please make sure that your guests do not sit on hay or grain bags.  We have chairs and picnic tables throughout the stables.

  • No cell phones and no video equipment permitted. If the stables has signed permission slips, and parents have granted permission for their rider to be photographed, then we generally take a group photo. The focus of our horseback riding program has nothing to do with cell phones or video equipment.

  • No screaming, running or yelling at the stables.  Please be respectful of the horses home.

  • We strive to make this program fun and educational, and we appreciate your assistance in helping our guests have a safe and enjoyable experience here at the stables.
